SUGAR GROVE, KY – TWO DRIVERS KILLED IN TRUCK CRASH ON I-165 NEAR MM 20
Sugar Grove, KY (July 20, 2022) - Two people were killed following a truck accident reported in Butler County on Tuesday afternoon. Just after 1 p.m., on July 19, the Kentucky State Police responded to a crash that occurred on Interstate 165 in the town of Sugar Grove.
Reports from troopers indicate that a 2007 International tractor-trailer was traveling north on Interstate 165 when it became involved in a crash with a 2002 GMC dump truck, which was stationary in a construction area near mile marker 20 on the northbound side.
The tractor-trailer came to rest on the right shoulder of the roadway and caught on fire. The vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames.
Officials in Butler County secure the area for an extended period. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
The driver of the international, a 38-year-old man from the Louisville area, and the driver of the dump truck, a 43-year-old man from Bowling Green, both suffered fatal injuries due to the crash. The two victims were pronounced deceased on site.
The crash remains under investigation at this time but the Kentucky State Police.
