Auto Accidents in Kentucky

In Kentucky, it is becoming more common for people to utilize electric standup scooters as a method of transportation. Like other pedestrians, scooter riders are exposed to the impact of other vehicles during collisions. They have no metal frames to protect them, which can result in significant injuries during accidents.

Statistically, people utilizing electric standup scooters will likely suffer significant head injuries. For this reason, using helmets while utilizing this method of transportation is highly recommended. There are many cases where people suffer these injuries due to their heads being struck, suddenly jerked, or penetrated by foreign objects during collisions.

In addition to head injuries, many scooter riders are left with contusions, whiplash, significant abrasions, and severe cuts following accidents. Regardless of how careful scooter operators are, they cannot predict how other drivers will act.

Some of the most commonly reported causes of electric scooter accidents are negligent drivers operating cars and trucks while sharing the roadways. In addition, leading causes of these accidents include:

  • Alcohol and drug use

  • Pedestrian distractions

  • Drivers who are distracted

  • Defective sidewalks

  • Damaged roadways

  • Carelessness
