Christian County, KY – Two Injured in Highway 24 Crash Near Exit 86

Mike Breen Sept. 12, 2022

Christian County, KY (September 12, 2022) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Sunday evening in Christian County left two people injured. Crews were called to the scene of a crash between two or more vehicles on Interstate 24 just before 7 p.m., on September 11th.

Preliminary investigations show that a car was traveling westbound on the interstate during the early evening hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle's mirror struck a man who was changing a tire on his vehicle near the side of the roadway by exit 86.

The incident caused severe delays in traffic throughout the area, resulting in two tractor-trailers colliding on the westbound side of the highway.

The man changing his tire and a second person involved in the truck crash were both injured. The victims were transported to Jennie Stuart Health for medical care.

Law enforcement officers are currently investigating the crash.

Our thoughts are with those who were injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.

Auto Accidents in Kentucky

There are tens of thousands of motor vehicle accidents reported annually in Kentucky that result in injuries. In many cases, injuries are reported in secondary chain-reaction collisions. When drivers are rubbernecking, distracted, or engaging in other actions while operating their vehicles, they are likely to not see traffic stopped ahead of them in the roadway. As a result, they can crash into other vehicles and cause severe damage and injuries.

People who are involved in auto collisions often suffer from injuries that require some form of medical treatment. Many cases result in victims being left with severe injuries, such as:

  • Spinal cord injuries

  • Traumatic brain injuries

  • Internal organ damage

  • Neck and soft tissue injuries like whiplash

  • Compound fractures
