An Alleged Drunk Bowling Green is Charged with Death of Motorist

On behalf of Mike Breen, Attorney at Law, P.S.C. posted in wrongful death on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

A 37-year-old Bowling Green, Kentucky, man was arraigned on murder, driving under the influence, and hit-and-run charges on Monday, June 5, 2017. He’s alleged to have been driving drunk when he crashed his car into a 46-year-old Bowling Green woman’s vehicle on March 22, 2017.

It was just after 11:35 a.m. when the woman, a licensed massage therapist, attempted to make a turn to leave the Northgate Shopping Center parking lot. It’s believed that it was then that the defendant, driving his GMC Yukon Denali, ran a red light striking the woman’s Pontiac Grand Prix in the process.

One witness noted that she was stopped at a traffic light along Louisville Road when she saw the crash occur. Very soon thereafter, she said she saw the defendant leave his vehicle and peep inside the other woman’s window before fleeing on foot.

Soon after arriving on the scene, officers with the Bowling Green Police Department were able to hone in on the man witnesses alleged had been involved in the crash. They trailed the man as he ran in the direction of Graham Avenue. They ultimately detained him in front of the Barren River Development District office.

It’s then that the defendant is alleged to have told officers that he went to the local bar, Spillway, where he had six beers after leaving work. He noted that he had driven into town looking for something to eat. It’s then that he also referenced having run a red light immediately before crashing into the woman.

The defendant has entered a not guilty plea on all charges he is facing. At his arraignment, his request to have his $500,000 cash bond reduced was denied. The judge cited the man’s previous drunk driving from 2014 as one of the reasons for why he was unwilling to modify the man’s bond. The defendant is next scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Aug. 14.

In this case, this woman’s life was taken much too soon because a suspected drunk driver ran a light and crashed into her. A Bowling Green, Kentucky, car crash attorney may be able to help her loved ones recover funeral costs and other expenses associated with her untimely loss.
